III Compromiso Awards. The struggle against gender-based violence, a social priority

The third edition of the Compromiso Awards opened a new stage in their history by focusing on the struggle against gender-based violence and becoming national in scope. This leap forward is a response to growing social demand and Clece’s commitment to equality and to helping women victims.

The Awards recognised the work done of the following entities: Deméter Association for Equality, the ARED Foundation and the Nova Feina Foundation. Each were awarded 10,000 Euros. In the Best Journalism category, the journalists Arturo Checa of Las Provincias, and Chelo Tuya of El Comercio were each awarded 7,000 Euros. The Jury also awarded a special mention to the Society Section of the EFE Agency for its involvement and journalistic work. The Special Jury Award for the Outstanding Personality in the struggle against gender-based violence was given to the MP Carmen Quintanilla Barba as recognition for her distinguished work in supporting women victims. The Jury also granted a special mention to the film maker Icíar Bollaín for the important role cinema plays in portraying and raising awareness of gender-based violence as a social problem.

The event took place at Los Teatros del Canal in Madrid and was hosted by the journalist, Sandra Golpe. Throughout the proceedings, the real and practical support delivered to victims was celebrated, sharing their stories and providing some of the most moving moments of the whole event.
