María Barrul

“It is like you are drowning and they throw you a life line”

María suffered 21 years of abuse. When she was staying at a shelter, they helped her find work. After a trial period of three months, Clece offered her a permanent position. The feeling is like “you are in the sea, drowning and have nothing to cling on to, and suddenly, they throw you a life line”. She feels fulfilled and happy in her work. It also makes her feel she is “doing good things for people” as she cares for those who use Valladolid’s Home Help Service. Her experience is testimony to the peace of mind that comes with “a life that is simply normal”.
