  • Xenex Germ Zapping, a robot owned by Clece that uses type-C ultraviolet light to destroy pathogen micro-organisms such as bacteria within minutes, a function that has become highly valued following the Ebola crisis.

Madrid, 28 April 2016. The Ebola crisis highlighted the importance of disinfection in spaces that have been in contact with the virus. The Xenex Germ Zapping robot by Clece was used at the time in the USA to disinfect rooms in hospitals that had admitted Ebola patients.

This equipment, which is already being used in the Hospital Vall d’Hebrón in Barcelona and in the Hospital de la Fe in Valencia used type-C ultraviolet light, generated using xenon gas lamps, to destroy pathogen micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi and viruses in a matter of minutes.

“After five months of work, the studies produced by the National Biotechnology Centre, part of Spain’s Scientific Research Council, have shown this system’s high capacity for disinfection, with an effectiveness of more than 99.9999 per cent of viruses and spores,” explains Clece, the only company in Spain providing this service.
