Recognition of Clece’s education project in the first edition of the Escuela Infantil Award

  • Five Clece schools won awards for their teaching projects for children from 0 to 3 years old

Madrid, 20 November 2015. The professional magazine, Escuela Infantil, owned by the Siena publishing group, has recognised Clece’s educational project in nursery schools with five awards in the first edition of the Escuela Infantil Award for educational experiences in classrooms of children aged 0-3 and 3-6.

Five Clece nursery schools won awards for implementing projects relevant to children age 0 to 3 in the categories of Senses and Psychomotricity, Emotions, Living Together and Understanding the Environment. In total, the nursery schools managed by Clece submitted 75 projects, of which 30 were chosen as finalists. The five projects that went on to win awards were:

 –    Awakening the senses, by “Los Sauces” nursery school in Valdemoro (Madrid), in the Senses and Psychomotricity category. The project seeks to be used as a tool to stimulate the senses of young children through direct experimentation. It spans the full school year and works on the senses individually. Every two months, one of the senses is featured and the surprise factor acts as a key resource in developing activities.

 –    Puppets. Social space, by “Mon Petit” municipal nursery school run by Cavall de Cartró, in the Emotions category. The experience is aimed at teaching children with a social risk and/or others elements of exclusion, instruments and skills to correct their social relations and improve their subsequent social, academic and education functioning. This is achieved using puppets or characters that make it more attractive to present different emotions and personalities in activities programmed to work on and develop social skills.

 –    Glitter and emotion pumps, by “Las Camaretas” municipal nursery school in Golmayo (Soria) in the Emotions category. Among the projects carried out in the summer, Glitter and emotion pumps is a sensory journey in which to explore directly by handling various objects and elements in the environment, such as sand and water. Based on the sensations experienced, emotions are worked on and all the senses are placed on alert for multisensory learning.

 –    Let’s meet the grandparents of Dosrius, by “La Caseta del Bosc de Can Martorell” municipal nursery school run by Cavall de Cartró in Dosrius (Barcelona), in the Living Together Category. As part of the aims of the school’s social environment and values, the project is aimed at learning more about the elderly people who live with and around the school’s pupils. Three activities are carried out in the third term of each year: grandparents are invited to the school to tell stories; the family party; and the visit to the care home for the elderly in Dosrius with kids aged 2 to 3.

 –    From courtyard to garden, by “La Sargantana” nursery school, in Santa Coloma de Gramenet (Barcelona), in the Understanding the Environment category. Only a year after opening the school, and in line with its educational ethos, which considers play and learning environments as another teacher to be used, the project seeks to transform the school’s outdoor area from a courtyard to a garden. This is a living, ongoing projects, created out of the need to have natural elements as teaching resources and develop a rich and stimulating outdoor area.

The award ceremony took place on 19 November a the University for the Elderly run by the San Pablo CEU University Foundation in Madrid. In all, there was recognition for 13 education teams, representing schools and education centres from various parts of Spain, along with four special mentions for projects developed both during and outside of school hours.
