Madrid, March 2015. For the third year in a row, through its subsidiary Multiservicios Aeroportuarios (MA), Clece welcomed six pupils from the Margarita Salas de Majadahonda High School in Madrid into the Business Center of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport as part of the 4º ESO + Empresa programme. The scheme is promoted by the Region of Madrid Directorate-General for Secondary Education, Professional Training and Special-Regime Teaching, with the aim of bringing the education system and the world of work closer together.

Over the four days of the programme, the pupils had the chance to learn first hand about the work carried out by MA at the airport, which includes PRM services, managing the VIP lounges and Business Center, and maintenance works. After receiving a theory lesson, the pupils were given the opportunity of getting an actual view in situ of maintenance work, pushback and other operations that the company carries out every time an aircraft lands or takes off, as well as seeing the maintenance area for containers and taking part in PRM operations.

The pupils attending the programme commented on how interesting they found it“to have the chance to learn how an airport works, as well being allowed into the VIP and Premium lounges”. One of the pupils, with an interest in studying aeronautical engineering or a similar field within the aviation industry said the experience was “a good formula for learning about the different areas of the airport and getting to know more about them”.

José Manuel Veiga, the business development manager in charge of the project at Clece, stated that “MA receives a great many requests because pupils find the airport world a highly attractive one”. Whether recommended by classmates who had already been, due to their interest in the sector or “to accompany a friend”, the six students who took part in the programme all expressed their satisfaction with the course. Their teachers, in turn, were delighted with their energy and enthusiasm.
