Persons with Reduced Mobility service at London Luton Airport awarded

  • Second airport services contract in UK, where service has been running at Belfast City Airport since 2014

Madrid, 1 November 2015. Clece Care Services, CCS, the subsidiary of the Clece Group in the United Kingdom, has been awarded the Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRMs) service at London Luton Airport. The service began on 1 November and will run for five years.

This contract, in the fifth-busiest airport in the UK in terms of passenger numbers, helps people with reduced mobility during their departure, transits and connections. CCS accompanies users from collection at the meeting point, through check-in and security checks right up until their departure.

To win the contract, CCS had to show that it meets the quality standards set by the airport manager and the main airlines. Furthermore, in awarding the contract, “another key aspect was having a multidisciplinary team that enabled us to carry out good operating and economic analysis,” explained Mario Abajo, director of Airport Services at Clece. “Other factors in our favour were the level of solvency in both financial and operational terms, and good local knowledge. The solidity of our social project was also highly valued in the process,” he added.

This is the second contract to provide this service in the UK following the persons with reduced mobility service contract awarded in 2014 at Belfast City Airport in Northern Ireland, in which time CCS helped 9,447 users.
