• As one of the race collaborators, Clece gave 100 race numbers to staff members
  • The initiative is part of the company’s commitment as a signatory to the Business Network for a Society Free of Gender-Based Violence

Madrid, 30 June 2014.Clece was an active participant yesterday in the popular “There is a Way Out of Gender-Based Violence” race in Madrid, with 4,000 runners, including a hundred who were company staff members.

As part of its commitment to fight gender-based violence, Clece is one of the collaborating companies supporting the initiative, which was organised by the Government Delegation for Gender-Based Violence, Madrid city council and Mía magazine, with the aim of raising awareness of just how serious this social problem is.

To get its employees involved, Clece gave out 100 race numbers for staff members interested in taking part. Managing director Cristóbal Valderas, who was one of the hundred runners from Clece, explained that “the commitment against gender-based violence is something our employees have taken on board. Our social action is aimed mainly at helping people from vulnerable social groups find work, including women who have been victims of gender-based violence. We are, therefore, very aware of this problem. That is why Clece is here today, and why there are now 116 women who have suffered this kind of violence who have found work in our company.”

Through its Infant Schools division, Clece also taught workshops and organised free activities for kids in Retiro Park, where the race started and finished. The 6.2 km route took in various emblematic spots, such as the Puerta de Alcalá, Cibeles, Neptuno and Atocha. Athlete Chema Martínez won the male category, with sisters Amaya and Tamara Sanfabio finishing first in the female category. Clece employees performed very well, particularly Eduardo Meca Soto, who finished third in his category and sixth overall.

By taking part in the race, Clece strengthened its commitment as a signatory to the integration initiative championed by the Business Network for a Society Free of Gender-Based Violence and promoted by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality.
